Suriname: Islamic school launched

Paramaribo, Dhul Quidah 7/Jan 21,2002(IINA) – The largest Muslim institution of higher Islamic education, the Madrasa Alliyat Faridah has been inaugurated here. Money for the construction of the school was donated locally by the Surinamese Muslims. A large crowd of local Muslims attended the launching ceremony. The school would take in students not only from Suriname, but also from Guyana and other neighboring countries. One of the main functions of the school would be to train Imams and Preachers, as well as other Daawa activists. The teaching staff is mostly made up of teachers from Pakistan.
