Bulgaria: Waqf Foundation inaugurates mosque

Sofia, Bulgaria, Safar 9/Apr 22,2002(IINA) – The Saudi-based Islamic Waqf Foundation has inaugurated in Bulgaria the Omar bin Khattab Mosque, in a village known as Gurichov, according to Dr. Habib Mirza Alem, head of the Foundation’s Western Region branch. He said many more such mosques are needed in towns and villages throughout the country, adding that the Omar bin Khattab Mosque has been build with assistance from a philanthropist called Suleiman Al-Muhammad.

Alem said that a lot of Daawa work is still needed in Bulgaria, particularly in so far as teaching the country’s Muslim women matters relating to her faith, and the training of more Bulgarian preachers and Daawa activists, who could convey the Message of Islam in the language that is understood by the people.

He appealed for more philanthropists to come forward and contribute toward the efforts that are being made by the Islamic Waqf Foundation in Daawa work.
